Club de Pesca Tepic to present Riviera Nayarit’s 1st International Fishing Tournament

Being rich in marine life, Riviera Nayarit guarantees a great fishing experience and is considered by experts as one of the best destinations in the world for sport fishing. Presence of fishes like Wahoo, Sailfish, Dolphin-fish, Tuna, three different species of Marlin, Sawfish and Snapper all round the year attracts sports enthusiasts to conduct fishing tournaments in the region. Therefore to keep up the spirit of fishing, Club de Pesca Tepic (Tepic’s Sport Fishing Club) invites lovers of fishing to the First International Sport Fishing Tournament of La Cruz de Huanacaxtle scheduled to take place in October from 10 till 14 at Marina Riviera Nayarit.

"In Nayarit Sport Fishing is a pride that unites us" is the motto of the Tepic Sport fishing Club who, for the past 52 years, has hosted the International Fishing Tournament in San Blas.  They have informed that already 42 ships pre-registered for the event, and they’re expecting more number of participants.

“Those who have participated in the San Blas Fishing Tournament know the atmosphere and the celebrations that are part of our events. At La Cruz de Huanacaxtle we have the best infrastructure, and we’ll have all the best elements of the San Blas tournament, plus many other surprises," said Francisco Navarrete Buhaya, director to the Tournament.

The categories at the event include Sailfish, with a maximum of three catches per ship, with a minimum weigh of 30 kg; Dorado, with a maximum of three catches per ship and a minimum weigh of 10 kg; Marlin, limited to three catches weighing over 85 kg; and Tuna, with three catches of at least 50 kg. Prizes include 2.5 million pesos, 2 pick-up trucks, cars, fishing kits and much more.

Registration can be done by visiting Club de Pesca Tepic website, calling up the Tepic Fishing Club's office at (311) 160-0675, or at the Captain's Meeting at Marina Riviera Nayarit on October 10, 2012. The fee has been kept at $19,000 pesos per team.
