Riviera Nayarit is a great sailing and water sports destination and it has been confirmed once again as Riviera Nayarit will be hosting the Mexico Cup Regatta for the third time in 2014.

Riviera Nayarit had earlier hosted the same event in 2010 and 2012 successfully. Nayarit has all the ingredients which make it an excellent place for aquatic and nautical sports and perhaps this reason lies behind the decision to award it the honors of hosting the event again.

Roberto Sandoval, Governor of Nayarit said, “The Mexico Cup Regatta began as an itinerant event until it arrived at the Riviera Nayarit - and then it was here to stay.”

The event will see a big turnout of about 2000 participants and 400 boats in the majestic Bay of Banderas from March 16-20.

The cup will see fierce competition for the best sailors in every category. Sean Farley, world Kitesurf champion, Demita Vega and David Mier y Terán, silver and bronze medal winners in their respective Windsurf categories during the Pan American Games of 2011 will be showing off their skills and make the competition even more exciting.

Mexico’s Secretary of the Navy (Semar) will participate in the 2014 edition with 120 sailors distributed among different categories. The event will be monitored and provided safety by air, land and sea during the event to ensure complete safety and welfare of both the participants and the visitors.

Marina Riviera Nayarit, La Cruz de Huanacaxtle will host the the Ocean Class, J24 and Windsurf. The Laser Class, Optimist and Club 420 will be held at the Vallarta Yacht Club in Nuevo Vallarta while the Kiteboard Class will take place in Bucerías.

The event will out Riviera Nayarit in the map as one of the premier destinations for not only sand and surf but also sports and other events like The 10th Hog Gdl Rally To Be Held In Riviera Nayarit. Industry analysts believe that the tournament will increase the hotel occupancy and arrivals to Puerto Vallarta.
